The formula is price = take-home / (1 - fee). Upwork’s own help page uses the same method: $20 take-home at a 10% fee means charging $22.22.

Where the numbers come from
- Fiverr: freelancers receive 80% of the client’s cleared payment, with a 14-day clearing period (Fiverr). The page does not say whether the base includes the buyer’s service fee, so treat 80% as “plan on keeping 80%”.
- Buyer fee: 5.5% of the purchase plus $3.50 on orders under $200 (Fiverr).
- Upwork: the fee ranges from 0% to 15% per contract and appears on the offer or when you submit a proposal (Upwork). Upwork also rounds to the cent, so your net can differ by a cent or two.
- Fiverr minimum gig price: we did not find a current figure, so we do not state one.
